Hereâs a collection of my notes for each chapter
Fighting Shadows Notes
Summary
We Fight:
- Despair with hope
- Loneliness with community
- Shame with vulnerability
- Lust with faithfulness
- Ambition with kingdom values
- Futility with calling
- Apathy with a cause
Â
I can split this into three parts:
1. Relationship with God
Relationship with God calls us out of Despair, Shame, and Lust.
Inner healing: Relationship with God brings us true hope, and his love heal and fulfills our desires.
Relationship with God brings us out of the lies of the enemy and into Godâs truth of our circumstances and our identity in him. His love overcomes all lies, all shame. Relationship with him is the greatest thing, our greatest desire, and all other desires â including lust â are a disgusting substitution of our true calling to be with him
Topics:
- Sonship
- Fatherhood
- Inner healing
2. God-centered Community
God-centered community brings us out of Shame and Loneliness.
Equipping: Christ-centered community equips us to battle loneliness and shame.
Shame causes us to isolate â being in community is the opposite of lying defeated in shame. Healing lies in confessing our troubles to others. Therefore we must be vulnerable and be intentional in finding close friendship. And close friendship requires vulnerability! A nice feedback loop :)))
Topics:
- True vulnerability
- Seeking intentional friendship
3. Godâs vision
Godâs vision in our life should define our Ambition, tossing Despair, Futility, and Apathy to the side.
Guide for purpose and outward actions: Godâs vision should guide our vision and define the purpose of our lives.
Take time to intentionally seek Godâs vision â a greater calling for our lives, who we are designed to be, and the assignments we are designed to execute here on earth based on our calling. Being focused for this cause, willing to fight and bleed as a soldier, will deliver us from despair, futile goals, and an apathetic lifestyle.
Topics:
- Seeking Godâs vision
- Removing our distractions
- Soldier for Christ
